报告题目：ARC nanocomm hub: current progress and future plan

报告摘要：
Monash University was awarded $15 million by the Australian government/industry to advance the development of infrastructure through the creation of the ARC nanocomm hub in 2016. As one of Monash University's most industry-focused research hub, the mission is "to provide efficient, innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry". The hub will focus on four areas of research:
• The fundamental molecular level of research: nanoscience, chemistry, and physics;
• The materials level where individual elements are bound together: cement and concrete, adhesives, glass, metal, timber, fibre-reinforced plastic, pavement materials;
• The structural level involving matters such as green buildings, bridges, roads, dams, tunneling, sensor technology, structural health monitoring;
• The system level, which involves entire infrastructure systems, such as national road networks, assets management for aging infrastructure.
The hub has drawn on the expertise of about 100 scientists and researchers from Monash and more than 50 partner institutions including CSIRO, Australian universities and industry, international research centres. Having established its research partnership and solid funding base, the ARC nanocomm hub is now seeking to build wider links with international community. This talk will present the development of ARC nanocomm hub and future plan. Selected hub projects will be highlighted to showcase the capacity and promote the potential collaboration.
个人简介：
Dr Duan graduated from Tianjin University (China) in engineering mechanics with B.Eng. and M.Eng. in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering, the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore in 2006. Dr Duan joined the Department of Civil Engineeringat Monash University as a Lecturer in 2008 and was appointed as an ARC Future Fellowand Senior Lectuer in 2013. Dr Duan was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2015 andProfessor in 2017. Dr Duan is the Director of ARC nanocomm hub.
Dr Duan conducted interdisciplinary research on nanocomposites and nanomechanics. By adding advanced nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene oxide into conventional engineering materials such as epoxy, Portland cement, and geopolymer, Dr Duan has developed novel nanocomposites with high mechanical performances and reduced environmental impact. Hisresearch studies have resulted in more than 100 publications. Professor Duan's current h-index stands at 28 (Google Scholar). In the last seven years, Dr Duan was awarded several ARCand industry grantson nanocomposites and nanomechanics totalling $AUD 18 million including the most recent ARC IRTH Hub on nanoscience-based construction materials manufacturing.
