报告摘要:
Vanadium dioxide has received extensive interest in the past half century, because of interesting electrical properties, their dependence on the microstructures at the atomic level, and the promise in energy applications. Using both experimental and theoretical approaches, we have studied the pressure-induced phase transitions in VO2 at room and high temperatures, and the effect of V-V bonding in VO2 on the structure. Our studies provide direct evidences of the metallization under pressure. Furthermore, we propose a microscopic mechanism of the metallization based on the obtained structural information, which shows how the Peierls distortion is suppressed by pressure.

白利刚,2003年本科毕业于河北大学物理学专业,2010年博士毕业于中国科学院高能物理所凝聚态物理专业。2011至2016年分别在内华达州立大学拉斯维加斯分校、卡内基研究院做博士后研究。在Nature communication、JACS、PNAS、PRL、PRB等杂志发表论文30多篇。研究方向为同步辐射在高压中的应用、过渡族氧化物的高压相变研究等。
